Hi,
If I run ipconfig /release, DHCP expires the lease and deletes the DNS records immediately, but if I let the lease expire on it's own, the lease expires, but the DNS records are not discarded and the job of deleting the records is left to DNS scavenging..
Problem is that when the machine is brought back to life (with new MAC address) and receives a new IP, the old records are stuck in DNS.
Anyone know if this is by design, or is something wrong?
I want DHCP to remove DNS records even when the lease expires on it's own.
We have option 81 set with Discard A and PTR records, DHCP lease is 10 minutes (dont ask....), DHCP cleanup is set at 10 mins, DNS scavenging 2 hours..
Server 2012, DNS and DHCP on DC.
Spent 2 weeks troubleshooting DHCP/DNS issues, and am at the final run. Counting on you guys!
Thanks
