File Server from 2003 to 2012

Hi ,

I have a 2003 Server which points to shared storage (HP SAN) containing approx 2TB of data .doc,.xls etc.... This is running in VMWare . I want to move this to 2012 . This is an extremely critical share and any downtime will be frowned upon , but I realise there will need to be some .

Im hoping to build a 2012 VM present the shared storage which should take care of the NTFS permissions , but im not sure of what will happen with the share permissions.

Any suggestions ?
