Ran into an issue with RD Licensing Manager where by the configuration looks fine on the server the role is installed on, licenses are activated and when reviewing the configuration I have two green ticks.
The issue however is when running RD Licensing Diagnoser it says "The licensing mode for the Remote Desktop Session Host server is not configured." and "Set the licensing mode on the Remote Desktop Session Host server to either Per User or Per Device. Use RD Licensing Manager to install the corresponding licenses on the license server."
This is already done and the only thing I can think of now is that the server in which RD Licensing role is added is also a DC, now I can't find anything official but I have seen a few posts saying it is not recommended and may/may not work.
The domain functionality level is 2003, I still have a 2003 DC active and also have a 2008 and this 2012 DC (which I recently promoted). The 2012 R2 server doesn't hold any FSMO roles so I was hoping to remove the DC role and then when I get chance fire another 2012 R2 VM up and promote that to be a DC and eventually de-commission the 2003 DC.
Does this plan seem plausible or am I likely to hit issues once removing the role from the 2012 R2 server?
