A question that neither Microsoft and several suppliers with which I have quote requests can give me the same answer to:
I'm looking to purchase a HA platform which consists of 3 host servers.
I'm interested to purchase Windows Server Datacenter licenses for these servers so I have unlimited licenses for my guest vm's.
So far, so good.
With all of the harware vendor's it's possible to purchase a ROK kit for Windows Server 2012 Datacenter which is considerably cheaper than a regular license.
the thing is; some of the vendors informed me that for my purpose a ROK kit/OEM license is not suitable because of the restrictions on transferring the license.
Of course I won't be transferring the licenses for Datacenter 2012 itself, but I cannot seem to get a straight answer if these restrictions are also applicable on any possible guest vm's that are going to run on these servers.
Does anyone know how this really works? :-)
