Lost Collections in SCCM 2007

I was working in ConfigMgr Console, and when I looked in "Users" under "Security Rights", I could see my user account listed, and I had full rights.  I also noticed that there was a collection called "Domain Admins" (I'm sure it wasn't a default collection, but one that the previous network admin setup when he built our SCCM system).  My user account was not listed in the Domain Admins collection.  After a little research, along with some trial and error, I was able to add my account to this collection using the Direct Rule wizard.

There were a couple of user accounts of people who no longer work here, and their accounts have been gone for months in AD, so I removed these users.  At this point, everything was still fine... I then went back into Security Rights\Users and verified which accounts were listed (mine, Domain Admins, NT Authority\System, and one of the other network admins I work with).  I then went back to Collections and they were all gone!  I'm extremely confused because I can still see accounts in "Security Rights\Users", but can't see any collections at all.  I also noticed that when I tried to click on "Conflicting Records" under "Computer Management", it says "You do not have security rights to perform this operation".

If my account is a full member in Security Rights, and I've never removed my account, what could have caused all the collections to vanish?  And why do I not seem to have full rights anymore, even though I do in Security Rights?...
