Domain user lost access to a File server from one PC only, other users can connect from his computer, and he can connect from other computers.
Domain user had suddenly lost 2 of his several mapped drives – both to the same File server computer.
The analysis shows:
Only from one specific computer he can’t connect to the File Server. He can see this server on the network, but access is denied. He can connect to any other network resource, except this one. The same user can connect to the File server from any other computer on the network. (I’ve verified – he has all permissions active to be able to use File server and folder mapped for him on this server). Any other domain user logged in on his computer can connect to the File Server, except him.
My attempts:
I have assumed the problem is on his PC, disconnected from the domain, deleted computer from Active Directory, rejoined again. Checked again all Group policy – could not find anything related to this user or computer. Even gave him rights to list folders/ list data explicitly. No results…
Disconnected the mapping, can’t re-map.
The antivirus (Agent) Vipre – the same settings for all users and all computers, don’t expect any problem from there.
The script can’t cause the problem, as it is the same when the user logs in on another PC and connects successfully.
“Everyone” was given “Read, Write, Modify” rights
The File Server is running Windows Server 2003 R2 64 bit – all service packs and patches up to date.
Client computer has Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP1.
Everybody in the same network, no VLANs, subnets or segments
Any idea or hint where to look would be greatly appreciated
