What the hell happened to Windows? I have been setting user right for more that 20 years but this is not right!
I have a domain of about 500 users. I want to create a folder in a 2K8 server then create folders inside that folder for various groups.
I see that you must now set a share AND a security? In the past the share was a network only right and the security was an NTFS right that applied locally AND over the network. right? Now what is it?
I have it allowing users to see ALL the folders & contents (not open them but list them) They can create a file but not erase it. I have given explicit rights for everything but full control to them. They still can not delete the file.
I WANT to be able to give the users the ability to open the folder of the group they belong to and have the ability to open, create, read, and delete files in that folder, but not any other folder.
This was such a simple task for the last 25 years, what has happened?!?!?!?.
this is not the most well written post as it is written out of frustration, but any help would be appreciated.
