I'm pretty sure it is a DFS issues. Hopefully someone experience the same issues as I have.
Running Windows XP Sp3 (Workstation)
Windows 2008 R2 (DFS server)
A user from site A (running windows xp ) connecting to the DFS server remotely \\siteb\dfs\shared\test.xls
The user can open up the test.xls file and make changes to it. When he try to save it it say the file is currently in use. Please try again. If he try again to save it it worked! so it is random. 3 out of 10 times he can save the file.
I did some testing
I'm using Windows 7 and are from SiteB and the DFS server is at SiteB (\\siteb\dfs\shared\test.xls) I can access it and save the file without any issues.
Site A and Site B is connected with 2 x T1 connection. The file is about 250KB, so It is not so big. But i'm guessing it is a connection issues? or OS issues? I tried another user from Site A running windows XP same result. cannot save file because it is in use. Other folders work fine except this one.. WIERD.
Please advise if anyone got any sugguestion to test out.
