I have a network printer that users are requesting to be renamed as to reflect a different office configuration. I have this printer running off of two print servers a Windows 2008 R2 server and a Windows 2003 server. The majority of the users are on the 2008 print server.
My question is, if I rename the shared name on the print server. Will that name automatically propagate down to the user or will we need to reinstall the printer? Also if the printer will need to be reinstalled in order to get the new name. Will it cause issues for users that have not reinstalled the printer yet?
