Hi,
We happened to have lost due to hardware failure our main DC (Dell PowerEdge2950 ) which was also our Exchange and Fileserver. A previous backup made with Acronis universal restore failed to be restored to the new hardware purchased (HP Proliant ML310e Gen8) although we've followed all the possible instructions for a restore to dissimilar hardware (i think an issue with the Server iLO software).Fortunately we were able to restore one partition C:\ to an old Dell Optilex Desktop.
Im to suggested a new infrastructure plan that would be resilient to failure with improve network performance for the future. May you find below the state of our current infrastructure and the proposed plan.
Current infrastructure :
- DC,Exchange,File Server (Windows SBS 2008)
- SQL server,IIS 7 (Window 2008r2 Standard)
- 25 Clients (Win 7 Pro 64bit)
- Draytek Vigor 2820n
Proposed infrastructure:
- 2 DC with FSMO and GC (Windows 2008R2 Standard) on 2 physical servers
- Exchange and Files Server (Windows 2008R2 Standard) on a physical server with RAID1
- SQL Server ,IIS 7 (Windows 2008R2 Standard)
- Backup Storage Server (Windows 2008r2 or Linux)
- Asus RT-AC66U router
Thanks
