I have configured our first 2012 R2 Hyper-V domain controller and am about to transfer the roles from the original physical 2003 DC, but before doing so I want to have my time plan ready. I have disabled the time sync on the hyper-v machine and now am ready to set the time servers using the w32time command. I have read several different opinions on how to set up the time server, but most have been with 2003 and 2008 DCs. Because both of our DCs will be virtual, do I need to set them both to the ntp pool or just the PDC emulator? I have read in all virtual environments it is suggested to set all Virtual DCs to external time sources. Our old setup was 2 physical 2003 DCs, and in a GPO and DHCP, there were settings that pointed all of the clients to the PDC.
