I created some drive mappings for a few departments many moons ago, but lately when I have to give someone access to a shared folder, I've just been creating a shortcut to the shared folder on their desktop.
It got me thinking that maybe I should replace my drive maps with these shortcuts. Particularly for security reasons given the ransomware like Cryptowall. It seems to traverse mapped network drives, but shared folders that were linked to via just a shortcut were fine.
Thoughts? Do you still use drive mappings?
