windows server 2008 drive mapping

Hi all,

I guess I'm looking for some support from those who have used this feature. It looks like a dream, and easy to implement. Right now I have 50 or 60 computers in a Windows Server environment, needing access to drives based on groups, and they use a hodgepodge of the old ways of mapping drives in a domain environment, with batch files, sysvol, etc. They all seem to work inconsistently.

It is as easy as it looks? Are there caveats? And once it's done, do you have to go around to each machine and unmap all those drives, reset anything?

And one problem I have is with mobile VPN users. They use Cisco AnyConnect, and it seems that they lose their drive mappings when they login remotely, because the VPN part necessarily comes after the Windows logon part. Does the Server 2008 drive mapping feature solve this problem?

Gregory
