I'm looking to a solution to an issue that seems unique, but I know I'm not the only one trying to accomplish this.
Background:
I have some extra servers that I can repurpose that have a lot of storage available and I want to utilize this space. Some servers are Raid 5, 10, 1, etc. Different drive speeds and sizes. If I can I'd like to be able to pool all this as an iSCSI target so I can utilize this space across any other server that needs the space.
I'm looking to utilize SCDPM for client backups on several devices across our network. DPM cannot use SMB file shares and only iSCSI or DAS will work as a target for DPM.
I would also like to use this setup to deploy Virtual Machines via Hyper-V.
Is this setup feasible in this manner? Is it advisable for either DPM or Hyper-V? If this is possible would it provide H/A?
