We are about to move all of our servers to new hardware and while doing this, we should obviously take the opportunity toupgrade certain aspects of the network - one of these being our network file storage.
Here is an explanation of how we currently use network storage:
- We have a Windows 2003 server, with lots of space
- We have a Win 2003 R2 domain (will change to 2012 R2)
- Each department has its own folder, with sub-folders for each member of that group (with permission for that user only) - and the departmental folder also has generic folders for sharing between the department
- There is a generic "Company Share" folder, that everyone in the company has access to.
To give users access, we have an AD-Based logon script running for most users that maps drives for their department (Managed by AD Group membership), and for the main...
