Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of getting a replacement server for our network. I would like some configuration suggestions. Our current system is a single server that does it all, AD, DNS, DHCP, File and Print Server setup raid 5 on single partition. I didn't setup this server, just took it over. The new box will be a HP Proliant DL380 Gen 8 with 6 or 8 hard drives, not sure yet on total drives with Server 2012. Should I mirror 2 drives for the OS and the rest be raid 10 for data or raid 10 across all drives and just partition the OS and data volumes? Would it make sense to activate Hyper-V and setup multiple virtual machines to separate the systems? I don't see them letting me buy a second server to separate the File Print for the AD Controller.
Thanks
Dan
