I am deploying a new AD DS DC. I have been told it is best practice to let the DC host the DNS and DHCP server as well. So I have installed my AD DS, DHCP, and DNS roles on my Windows Server 2012 DC. DHCP is currently handled by a Sonicwall TZ215 and DNS is currently handled by my ISP. I am looking for a seamless transition and was hoping for a few pointers.
Here is what I have done already:
I post configured AD DS and DNS servers. I figured migration of the DNS server would be quite easy as I can simply change the server IPs on the machines with static addresses and change the DNS IP within the sonicwall. As far as i can tell, we could limp along with the two DNS servers running concurrently until we are completely migrated without too many issues. However, I believe if I have two DHCP servers running at one time I will run into a ton...
