I am testing out migrating our fileserver to 2012 to take advantage of the built in deduplication, and I am wondering what files to exclude at the moment, namely PST. We use an old POP3 email that saves everything in the active pst. The pst files reside on the users' home share, and desktop users open them directly from the server when opening outlook.
I know this is not going to go well, but wondering if anyone has already tried to dedup pst files and whether users can still use them in outlook? I plan to dedup the pst backups for laptop users, since they are not actively used. But for desktop users, I know I could dedup them once a week on weekends if the files won't break come monday morning.
