New Server Windows 2012 Debating starting with a fresh active directory

I have a server running windows 2003 and one running 2008.  The Windows 2003 is functioning as a replication server.  There have been some quirky things going on in the windows 2008 computer with all sorts of issues such as randomly not handing out ip addresses and then handing out duplicate ones, using a global policy and then not using it.  Since I just purchased a server to run 2012 and am wanting to take the windows 2003 wipe it clean and use it for the student computers on a completely different network, should I spend the weekend wiping everything out and starting with a new clean active directory?  If the domain name and the ip address of the new server is the same as the old one I take offline, will I have to rejoin the staff and faculty users to the domain and will they lose their profiles?
