SharePoint and IIS Logs

Hopefully this is an easy question to answer. (I ask dumb questions rather than make dumb moves)

I have a SharePoint site for testing/development that a former employee put together so I know little about how SharePoint works. My inetpub/logs folder is huge and I want to reduce the size. This log folder is like any other IIS logs folder correct? I just remove/compress/delete the old logs without impacting the server correct? This question is related to IIS and not SQL.

Thanks in advance for any/all help.
