Evidently I'm not the sharpest tack in the box. I called myself simplifying things by allowing Microsoft's Web Platform Installer to install Wordpress, PHP and MySQL on my test server runing in VMware Workstation 10. Problem is...I can't seem to add any other WordPress sites unless they are added as applications under the Default Site.
If I do this, they will run, but you do not get to assign a host name for each site and they all use the same DefaultAppPool. Isn't that a bad thing? I though that each Website should have its own App Pool Identity to kind of sandbox it from the other sites. Won't putting all WordPress sites under the Default Site as applications be a security risk?
There are no instructions on the web that I can find that address running multiple WordPress sites on a single Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5.
I even tried installing PHPMyAdmin as an app. It works fine if installed under the default site as an application - but if I try and install it as a new site, it fails.
What am I missing (and please don't say that I should be running WordPress sites on a Linux box - not knowing ANYTHING about Linux, that would definitely expose the sites to unnecessary risks).
