Renaming a print server

I am going to rename the 2008 R2 server running the Print and Document Server role. Printers are pushed with group policy preferences. Does anyone have a proven recommendation for the correct steps to take?

My guess is:

1. Ensure all current printer entries in the GP are set to "remove this item when it is no longer applied" (changes all of my Updates to Replaces)
2. Allow time for GP to update to workstations
3. Rename server
4. Create duplicate printer entries in the GP that point to the new name
5. Allow time for GP to update to workstations
6. Delete all of the old printer entries from GP
