Has anyone backed-up a virtualised Domain Controller with WBS (Server 2012 R2) to a Network Attached Storage device, does it work? Is there anything special we should look out for when purchasing a suitable NAS.
I realize we could backup to a USB attached drive but there is a downside to that. The drive must be available to the Hyper-V partition, that drive then has a virtual disk created on it which is itself available to the virtualised server. Problem is if for some reason that USB drive is not available the virtualised server will not boot. Not a great situation for resilience.
Just thinking about the pros & cons of NAS backup compared to local disk.
We also want to schedule a weekly backup to write to a separate USB attached SSD drive for offsite backup. Even this isn't apparently easy as WBS only allows a scedule of daily or multiple times daily.
Any advice.
