Activating a 2nd DNS server to be used as KMS

I am having a few issues with trying to get a secondary DNS server to activate KMS office licences.

Basically the setup at the moment is we have our 1st Domain Controller running Windows Server 2008, the second DC is running Server 2008 R2.

We are wanting to activate office via KMS, this needs to be pointed to a DNS server which is above 2008 to activate Office 2013.

So we came up with the solution to create a secondary DNS server on the 2nd DC (with 2008 r2). I have tried to create a secondary DNS by getting all of the settings across from the 1st DC by forward lookup zones. However I get the message unable to authorise and an error with IPV6.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if I actually needed to create a  primary zone and not a second DNS zone?

I thought it was going to be a simple process of activate the second DNS point the KMS server to the second DNS and office will activate...
