//SERVER/ taking forever to point to //NEWSERVER/

Sorry, this might be an easy question but we did a server migration in which the old server's name was SERVER and the new servers name is NEWSERVER and whenever a user opens up his Explorer and goes to a mapped drive it takes a while and then eventually goes to the right location.

One users hits his explorer shortcut, it shows that is is looking for //SERVER/.../.. errors and then opens up the correct location //NEWSERVER/.../.. . Is there any reason for this. On the new server I have a NS record for server which should be pointing to newserver. Is there a better way of doing this or something I am missing. I mean eventually it goes to the right place but there is just a delay that is rather annoying for users.

Please let me know if that makes sense or you need anymore clarification. Thanks All!
