I am currently assessing our environment with the Microsoft Assessment & Planning (MAP) Toolkit.
Of our 100 or so servers, 7 have returned a WMI Status: Failed - Socket not connected in the InventoryResults *.xlsx output.
This is not a typical WMI error returned via this help page:
I have attempted to run WBEMTEST and I am able to connect to the \\remote\root\cim just fine and query (e.g. select * from Win32_etc)
