When doing file shares in 2008 and previous, any share name that was created with a trailing dollar sign would be hidden when a simple browse was performed. Was this deprecated and now the entire share is visible? I'm concerned about user shares since they have always ended with a dollar sign so users would not be tempted to view other people's data, and now it seems that my old share methods aren't working to hide things.
Also, as I'm sharing user folders from a DFS for 'anywhere access' from multiple offices, does this affect how they're shown? Is there still a way to hide these folders from a simple browser?
