I have 2 server 2008r2 app servers for remote app/desktop. They are essentially the same (or should be) and are load balanced using NLB, They interact with a few AD servers running DHCP, DNS and the other usual suspects. We have all been getting along merrily for 2 years. All of a sudden some users can't login to their remote apps. Some can. It doesn't seem to be a particular server with the problem. For example: from a remote machine i connect to a remote desktop (taking the app out of the equation) and it takes user x 20 min to reach the desktop. Mostly it hangs at preparing desktop and then sits a plain blue screen for eternity. Login with user Y and it connects and presents the desktop within seconds. I check the server and both users are on the same server. I have check the event logs on remote machine and server and can't find any particularly guilty looking parties. I thought maybe the "composited theme is not in use" was the culprit but that error goes back much farther than my problem.
Any ideas?
