DFS Issue Going from server 2003 to server 2008

I would like to decommission a 20003 DC running DFS

I am using a Domain DFS scheme.

A user can type in \\domain.local\sharename and get the folder they desire.

I tried deleting the root share on the W2K3 DC and recreating it on the W2K8 DC

When I tried to create it I could not get the path to match the old server

Once again W2K3 server \\domain.local\sharename All my scripts work with this syntax.

W2k8 server needs a folder to show the files so my new path becomes

\\domain.local\sharename\sharename. Having to add the folder ( which I never had to do in 03)

messes up all my scripts. If I don't add it I DFS brings me no where

I need my DFS roots to get into the folder so the contents display not to folder itself. using the 03 syntax so I dont have to do a lot of rewriting.

Probably have missed something but 03 DFS sure was easier.

Are there any DFS experts that can give me a hand out there.
