Recently,
I added some new WSUS computer policies to load a specific set of updates from a web based server which suites our needs.
Currently, the server is now automatically restarting after updates on it's own (which is fine), but we also run a connect-r interface engine for our current applications which may need to be manually reconfigured after a windows update or restart occurs.
The reconfiguration of the connect-r interfaces are not a concern and are handled by our application team.
What I WOULD like to do, is receive an email alert or some form similar to notify me or others when this restart occurs. The servers are running server 2003 r2 (which hold the interface engines and requires this special task to be setup).
I went through the event viewer (as I read somewhere that you can setup alerts through that) but could not find any specific event ID which denotes a server restart.
Is there a clear cut way to perform this? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
