I am begging to work with a client who has a number of servers in place. They have :
Windows 2003 file server
MS SQL server 2008
IIS web-server
Linux image server.
They DON'T have a domain controller. They would like a DC so they can better control security and deploy software, etc.
At one point the client tells me they had a DC but they removed it and the story gets foggy from there. I am concerned that putting up the DC will conflict with the permissions on the other servers and bring their business to a screeching halt.
Luckily they have duplicate servers for each of their machines so setting up a test environment is not a problem.
