partitions on Server 2008 box for SAP bit odd - advice please

Hi all,

My colleague who looked after some our servers left, and I took over, and want to do some bare metal back ups for D/R plans.

Looking at this server which runs our SAP system, there are some odd things here.

I can't use the Windows back up app to make a copy of the boot drive of this server. Seems it won't work as theres a FAT32 partition there. Not sure why. Our other identical Dell Poweredge which is used as a DC doesn't have this.

The 2nd set of disks has only part of the volume created which is odd, this volume should be a bit under 4Tb but shows as 2Tb. The person who set up this server didn't know much about RAID which kind of worries me.

I spoke to our SAP specialist in Tel Aviv who we have a paid support package, he doesn't know what the FAT32 partition is.

I'd like to very very carefully back up everything and very very carefully remove this unwanted partition. I know that Vista/7/Server2008 needs the first 100Mb for some internal operations.

Question, how would you go about removing this partition safely and covering myself before I do this with a back up of the boot RAID disk set?

Obviously this is critical system so I am in no hurry to do this and get it wrong, and would need to be a weekend job.
