Setting up DNS, RDS, and FTP on a single server for client with 2008 R2

Okay here we go.

They need to be able to publish their app and run it from anywhere in the country but also locally at their local office where I will be installing this.

I built the server with a haswell i5 because they don't need more than that for their 10 users. I installed a fresh copy of 2008 R2. I have 5 RDS CALs and 10 CALs.

My first attempt at the install did not go well. I installed DHCP DNS RDP IIS/FTP and could not get FTP to work nor remoteapp. I could contact the server locally for FTP, but when I tried to authenticate the credentials it told me it could not contact the server. I could use RDP fine with 3 separate connections and that worked perfect. I set up remoteapp and when I used the .rdp file or the web interface and attempted to open the remote application, it would say something like cannot contact the server, contact your help desk. I tried my best to fix these issues but alas, decided it was best to reformat, skip DHCP, install in the order of DNS, RDS, FTP.

Basically what I am looking for is a walk through on how to do this flawlessly so I don't need to troubleshoot after everything is installed. Is there a walk-through that goes from initial installation and shows the process of installing these roles from start to finish? I used a lot of different tutorials together on the last install and I feel that was part of my problem.

Thanks for all the help as I have been struggling with this server and am new to 2008 r2.
