After some advise on setting up a basic Terminal Server. (Remote Desktop Services)
Current network consists of 1 x Win 7 laptop, 1 x XP laptop and 1 x Vista Business Desktop. WiFI network. Ricoh photocopier. MYOB AccountRight Premier v19+
Vista Business Desktop is acting as file server and MYOB server as well as Reception PC.
MYOB is running very slow. I have tried optimizing data file, de-selected always update lists in Preferences but still slow.
Would like to setup a basic Terminal Server. (Remote Desktop Services) and file server.
Would like to keep costs down.
After some sort of Standalone server if possible. Active Directory not essential.
Windows 8 R2 server with 5 Cals.
Could I set this up as a Stand alone server and add 3 Terminal Server CALS?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
My Server knowledge is basic level so please simplify this as much as possible.
