I have a virtual lab environment that I am using to study but I am having an issue with my Server 2008R2 hanging at "applying computer settings" for approximately 5 minutes before it displays the login prompt. I currently have two DCs, this one and a Windows 2012 server, I have the primary DNS set toeach other and then tothemselves as the secondary. I then have two clients, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
After searching through some other threads on the internet, I am suspecting that DNS is the issue as when I have one DC already running, the load time seems to be much quicker. Ideally, I would like to be able to run only one sever and one client at a time but I am not sure if this is possible or makes sense.
So I ask: Does the setup I have work?
