I’ve got a really big problem here (read: “big steaming turd soufflé”) that I have got to figure out a way through so that the network I have “inherited” can begin an upgrade process. Here’s my situation:
We currently have three Windows 2003 R2 Servers (two local, one on the other end of a VPN) setup as Active Directory Domain Controllers but running at a 2000 Functional Level. There is also one Windows NT 4.0 (gasp / face-palm) PDC with a Trust relationship setup between the two Domains. Unfortunately the NT 4.0 server runs an antique accounting application called “Platinum” that was developed by IBM I guess back in the late 1980’s /early 1990’s and is in fact the “life blood” of the company. It was originally intended to run on either DOS or a Netware 3.12 server. Over the years, it had been moved from Netware 3.12 and put on the NT...
