I have a Windows 2012 Server Std Domain controller running on a regular Dell Optiplex Desktop with a single SATA 3 TB Hard drive. The OS also hosts a Hyper-V VM.
We have a new Dell PE T110II server with 3 x 1 TB hard drives, that I want to configure into RAID5 using onboard PERC S100,
How to backup the current Optiplex server (baremetal) and restore on the new Server with RAID5 so that all data, systems states and VMs are preserved. Other than a few drivers, I believe this should work.
Point to note, is that the current drive with 3 TB SATA is larger than the RAID5 volume that will be created (1.8 TB). If I use Windows Server Backup (full/baremetal), this could be a problem. Your solutions/suggestions are most welcome. Thanks in advance.
