Is it possible to assign group-based quotas in DFS?
File server: 2008 R2; domain/forest: 2003.
We've had DFS in place here before I arrived, mostly for users' Home drives.
The DFS namespaces were already different, as the actual servers hosting the drives were different, being geographically spread-out.
I've been able to consolidate the home drives on one central server for ease of management. I had hoped to then be able to just use one DFS namespace for all. My boss then said that he'd like to be able to cost out storage requirements to the other departments. I wasn't able to find a way to assign storage across a group, and I wasn't about to do so per-user. So, I had simply created separate vdisks per department, and dumped their respective home drives there. Easy to track and manage.
Is there a better way?
Thanks for all wisdom.
