My new company is big on putting as much as possible "in da cloud". So we have virtual AD, file, dns servers that exist, but not on site. This is a new facility, almost 200 users, multiple new xerox MFP devices. Having a dedicated print server is discouraged to follow our no hardware policy. I like a print server myself, but it seems silly to send a print job out to the cloud and back. These new MFP's have WSD and broadcast their availability on the network, but so far it has been spotty at best. Sometimes they all show up, sometimes only a few show up. We could also do direct IP printing, but I have no interest in touching every machine. Our plan is make users control their own destiny and self provision their printers and as many other things as possible. Is there a way to self provision direct IP printing? Anyone have any experience...
