I'm looking forward to Q4 when I plan to decommision two fileservers.
For those who have been in the same "255" boat, what methods do you use to prevent, mitigate or just manage it so that 255 does not become a problem
Hell, I purposely made the share short e:\data\nameshare, just knowing the guys on the network and their pesky naming convention. I've got quite a bit of folders close to the 255, but GUARANTEED, I have at least 50+ odd files that are to it's max. I'll need to run another scan and see. We send quarterly emails/reminders on the character limits, advising them to keep it short and sweet but it just falls on deaf ears.
