Im having a hard time understanding the role splits between SOFS and iSCSI in 2012.
My environment has 2 servers designated as data stores, with then intent on them being setup in an active\active role to server hyper-v. The hardware is just SAS directly attached via RAID controllers.
The articles i have seen thus far show setting up a pair of servers in active/active SOFS role, and have them connect to another machine as iSCSI initatiors. If the storage is located on the SOFS what role (if any) does iSCSI play into this? Why woulnd't i just install the iSCSI target on each data server and then connect the hyper V cluster to them both?
