I have a client that needs to sync Quickbooks across four computers without a domain or VPN. They do not have any offices because the owner would rather pay the overhead of office space to the employees so they work from home. They looked at Quickbooks online but Intuit told them there would be a mild delay since it's in the "cloud". My thought was to stand them up a Server 2012 R2 Essentials server and have the users RDP into the server through RRAS. The issue with that is the server would have to live in the senior accountant's house. I also thought about putting the database files in a Dropbox, Box.com, etc. account but I figured with multiple people working in there would constantly be locks or corruption since those services can't decipher the changes in the database.
Does anyone use Quickbooks online? How is it?
Should I stand them...
