I currently have some domain shares on a windows 2003 file server. I want to move them to a Server 2008 R2 Distributed File System share. The desired outcome is have them in a place that I can move files between servers without changing settings for the users. These are home drives and profiles, so I want to do it a way that will cause little to no disruption for the users.
Is there a way I can make the current shares part of the DFS on the 2008 server, change the pointers and drive mappings, then move the actual files? Or is there a better way?
