Dns and other issues after loss of bdc

I’m a former Oracle DBA who has taken over a small domainthat I didn’t build. (Which is good, because I have no idea what I’m doing as awin admin.) An old server just passed away that was hosting a secondary domaincontroller . (I should say historically the dead dc was once pdc, but wasdemoted by my predecessor.) When theserver died, everything hit the fan. Some clients could log in, some couldn’t.Some could access fileserver shares, somecouldn’t.All our servers were suddenlyconnected to a “private” network. I couldn’t ping servers but they could pingme. Etc., etc., etc.

Here is what I have done:

1.I have worked through verifying that theremaining DC holds all the FSMO roles.

2.I have used ntdsutil.exe to do an AD metadatacleanup to remove the old dc.

3.I have manually removed all old dc entries from ADusers-and-computers and AD...
