I have been tasked with creating a policy for internal auditing of DNS, DHCP, and WINS. I am new to this type of auditing as previously I mainly handled user administration and security and some software security. Now, I'm getting into network security and need some help since the IT team is small and time is of the essence and I'm fairly new to network security.
I hope someone out there can provide me with information on best practices for auditing these protocols. I was thinking that these audits should be done on a monthly basics since we are a mid-sized company with 200+ users. While the monthly reviews may work for us now since our numbers are low what happens when they double or tripled. So, I'm looking for advice for now with our 260 network devices and the future when the company grows larger. We're planning to do MAC filtering...
