Ok, first off my setup then my goals:
Two VM hosts, on each is a 2008R2 DC VM with its own storage not shared storage.
The goal is to setup a redundant file store transparent to the end user, I have setup DFS name space and replication is working, if I drop a VM nic connection to test it the system does hand over to the other server and its sort of transparent, other than there is an almost 2 min pause in the system!!
That's my issue, if a host goes down I wanted it to be almost invisible to the end users.
Other than the applications that I cant put on DFSR like Timberline that all die at least the users can keep working on many other things in the office.
But why is the time lapse on the hand over? is that normal? I can leave it I suppose but its not smooth to say the least.
We are using VM essentials so clustering and other HA functions are not available, trying to get the best use out of the tools I have.
Not sure if I am setup correctly, it does seem to work....
