Could do with a bit of advise and suggestions on how to configure a backup disaster recovery server. Data is to be transferred between servers on a portable SSD drive.
Main site a hyper-v host with data in half a dozen virtual.vhdx files (data1.vhdx to data6.vhdx) and a domain controller VM with these vdisks attached and sharing these out to the network. Easiest way to backup this data to portable SSD is by whole .vhdx files at the hyper-V host. Trying to backup from the VM causes problems because the SSD drive then has to use disk passthrough to allow itself to be written to by the VM.
When it comes to the Disaster Recovery server we were not intending to complicate that with hyper-v, just a plain and simple file server. Complication comes in when I want to restore the .vhdx files onto this DR server. One way would be to keep the data...
