I am wondering how do you deal with file server permissions and modification requests. I have a customer with 20 TB of files on their (NetApp) file server with historical files and at least 80 different departments. Each main departmental folder has its own permissions for different groups (hundreds of groups) and different sub-folder permissions in many cases.
How would you make all your users to request permissions modifications, add new folders with specific permissions on a Windows file server?
The idea is to escalate the request to Service Desk, but I am concerned about how the users should request this. Manually? On an excel sheet? Through a special tool for this?
