Looking for a DFSR alternative and came across software called ViseVersa. We would be replicating (I should say maintaining replication since it would be seeded on both sides) about 2TB of files. There are over a million files in all.
Has anyone used ViseVersa or had some experience with something that comapres to DFSR replication. I can't really use a RiverBed (or something like it) because the replication is being used as a failover in case our main file server goes down - not to speed up access to a remote office in another location.
DFSR just does not provide enough feedback to use in our production anymore. I need to know what's in queue, how big it is, if it's running, is it hung, how much longer before it's done, etc., etc. I can't leave our replication to chance anymore - there is too much mystery with DFSR and too many places you have to go to find out what's going on. In typical MS fashion they give you this thing that could be great (or great for small jobs) but it lacks so much of the basic "dashboard" that you are left guessing on what's happening. They give you enough to get started with it - but it's not a full solution without more feedback.
