Setting up a 2012R2 RDS server as a hyperV guest (it will be the only guest OS for now) RAM and Drive specs I understand well and have nailed down. What I am trying to determine is what is the best option for CPU's? I am already planing on a dual CPU system, just trying to determine which CPU options give me the best bang for the buck.
1. Is higher clock speed with fewer cores better or is slower clock with more cores better?
2. Intel vs AMD, I know in the past AMD Opteron's did well in VM environments and would often be a better value. How about when it comes to HyperV running RDS? Or does it even matter?
The RDS will be used for MS Office and a Medical Practice application (Greenway/Vitera Intergy EHR).
